On September 24th, 2020 the Open Government Partnership Virtual Leaders Summit took place (online via livestream).
The summit built on the Open Response + Open Recovery campagin, the OGP's call for accountability, transparency and participation in the joint effort to cope with the Covid19-Pandemic.
The event was a meeting of leaders in politics and civil society that play a central role in their countries' response to the pandemic and the time after.
Heads of state and government of the members of the OGP Steering Committee, including Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as high ranking government representatives and civil society leaders spoke about the role of open government innovations in the effecte response to the pandemic.
The contributions will elaborate on how we can strengthen democracy by building strong colations for democracy and openness to counter authoritarian tendencies.
The event was also the stage for the passing of the baton from the previous chairs of the OGP Steering Committee, the Government of Argentina and Robin Hodess of the B Team to the Government of the Republic of Korea and Maria Baron from Directorio Legislativo.
